According to Jolee, the whole team was on board whenever their Master Distiller, Alan Bishop came to them with the idea! They ordered the supplies and produced a small batch using the World Health Organization’s recipe. The first 60-90 gallons were shared free of charge to the local community within French Lick and West Baden. After they knew the amount of sanitizer that could be made by the recipe, they ordered the supplies in bulk and have been producing and bottling ever since.

The business is not profiting from this labor of love. Jolee expressed this in the following statement “We have been operating in the area of French Lick/West Baden for 25 years. We love our local businesses and community, we love our staff, and we love our customers. In times of trouble, you help each other, you make sure those you love are taken care of. And that is what we are striving to do.” Spirits of French Lick is taking donations of five dollars per gallon to cover the cost of the large purchase of ingredients. This price does not include the cost of the bottle, lid, or labor.

Their Personal Protective Equipment was initially distributed to local law enforcement, emergency management, and the post office that they interacted with daily. From there, their reach has been far and wide. As we all face this global pandemic, their capacity cannot meet every need out there, such as those coming from Amazon and businesses in Chicago. Thankfully though, they have their region covered! Spirits of French Lick Sanitizer is in the three hospitals in Orange, Dubois, and Washington County, more than 10 Post Offices, including Crane Naval Base Post Office. Jolee mentioned serving the Fire Department, Sheriff's Office, Health Department, Coroner's Office, Dubois County UPS hub, nursing homes, hospice workers, Springs Valley Schools, and the Marion County Sheriff's Department. She emphasized that those mentioned are among only half the requests.
